Aluminum is superior to the plastic versions in that it has better holding power (plastic ones struggle to hold tight enough on smaller hole sizes). Plus these are heat resistant. Also these have rigidity to extend out past the vise for more room. Plastic loses holding power quick once they are past the vise jaw.
